Our Story
Welcome to Galtigua Designs, pronounced Gyal-tee-guh, the home of bespoke cultural-inspired tote bags and accessories. Galtigua, meaning girl from Antigua, is a brand celebrating the country's indigenous African and Caribbean roots.
Since 2021, Galtigua Designs has been infusing the full flavour of African and Caribbean culture into our vibrant, custom-made, one-of-a-kind tote bags, clutches, cross-body bags, head bands, and head scarves. Galtigua Designs is proud to be heavily influenced by traditional Kente cloth, representing the history, philosophy, ethics, and values of Ghanaian culture. In fact, Kente is widely used across West Africa and can be seen worn in countries like Ivory Coast, Senegal, Nigeria, and the Benin Republic. Some countries like Togo even adopted their own version of Kente, known as Kete.
Galtigua Designs was conceptualised to offer consumers an alternative to bland, character-less mass fast fashion dominating the traditional brick-and-mortar businesses and online retail spaces.

Galtigua Designs was created and founded by Kemi, an Antiguan girl and seasoned brand ambassador with an exquisite eye for detail and a love of African and Caribbean aesthetics. Frustrated by the lack of diverse signature pieces available on the market, Kemi decided to craft her own unique artisan accessory business. The journey towards Galtigua Designs has been challenging, but Kemi admits to wanting to push forward with a new steely determination and passion for bringing Galtigua Designs to a whole new audience of accessory aficionados.
